A phonation tube is a Finnish invention to support and strengthen the voice, which began to be developed in the 1960s. This invention was originally used by speech therapists and speech pathologists as an aid for various voice problems, but is now also appreciated by actors, singers and choirs to keep their voices in good condition. The Swedish university lecturer in singing, Anna Lena Tideman, was the one who realized and developed the tube's properties in singing.
